Last year she presented the critically acclaimed series Meet The Romans, followed up this year by an equally well received documentary on Caligula. In January, Beard was awarded an OBE, and then named the Royal Academy of Arts professor of Ancient Literature, followed by an honorary degree from St Andrews University presented by Hillary Clinton.
