His best-known are collaborations with his late wife, the illustrator Janet Ahlberg, including Peepo!, Each Peach Pear Plum and The Jolly Postman. His first book for adults, The Bucket, about his childhood in a Black Country town in the 1940s, is out now. Ahlberg lives in Bath with his second wife, Vanessa. He has a daughter, Jessica, and two step-daughters, Saskia and Johanna.
