The guns being banned are not machine guns, not artillery, not even handguns, they are old, generally WWII or Korean war vintage M1 Garands. Not full auto scary weapons, not even the made up term "assault weapons", they are 8 round capacity(not adjustable with a bigger magazine), fixed(not removable) magazine, standard rifle stock(no scary pistol grip to make soccer moms wet themselves), no flash hiders, seimi-auto(one pull of the trigger gets you 1 shot) rifles. Obama wants to ban them because it is something he can ban, not because they are used in crimes(rifles of any type were used in about 300 homicides in 2011, that includes justified ones and shootings by police officers) or because they are easy to conceal(the things are nearly 4 feet long and mine weighs nearly 11 pounds unloaded), he just want's to ban them because it is one more step to getting all guns banned for anyone but the governments chosen few.
